Laptop Loan Policy
- Borrowers must read and sign the Laptop Loan Agreement (pdf file) before checking out a laptop.
- Laptops may be borrowed at the Circulation Desk for a period of two hours. Renewals are possible if no other user is waiting, and must be conducted in-person at the Circulation Desk with the laptop in hand. Laptops are due back no later than one hour before the library closes. Late fines will accrue at the rate of $10.00 per hour or part thereof..
- Laptops must be returned in good working order to a staff member at the Circulation Desk. Upon return Library staff members will verify that all equipment pieces have been returned. Please allow sufficient time to be present for this process.
- Library staff will determine if a laptop is in good working order or if it has been damaged.
- The borrower must agree to pay all repair/replacement costs resulting from damage or loss (including theft) of the laptop while it is checked out. Replacement cost shall be the current actual price of a new laptop similar to the loaned laptop in terms of quality, durability, and performance ($1,300 as of Fall 2007).
- Borrowers must abide by the Yeshiva University Guidelines for the Acceptable Use of University Computer Facilities and Resources found at <http://www.yu.edu/mis/docs/Guidelines_for_Acceptable_Use_web.pdf>.
- The Library is not responsible for damage to files or removable media caused by viruses that may exist on the network or spread through the network.
- Power supply is to be used with library laptop ONLY.
Remember
- KEEP THE LAPTOP WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES. You are personally responsible if the laptop or any accessories are lost, stolen, or damaged.
- Report all laptop malfunctions or problems to Library staff.
- DO NOT return the laptop in the book drop.
- DO NOT save files on the laptop's hard drive. All files saved on the laptop will be erased when it is returned.
